About College ConnectionRose State College seeks partnership opportunity to assist college students to meet funding needs to complete Associate degrees. Research shows that college students have limited funding opportunities once they find themselves in academic trouble, adults returning to college, and/or often students are too poor for college but too rich for financial aid. Often times college students do not complete college because they have balances of $500 or less, these are the students that are in desperate need of financial assistance.
Statement of Need Rose State College student population (based on information gathered from Federal Financial Aid Applications that attend the college)
There are a number of students that need referrals for additional services. Partnerships need to be established to assist students with mental health issues, mentoring, financial competence, study skills, and meeting financial needs for degree completion. Description of Actual Programs· Change for Credits – financial/scholarship component to assist students that owe balances of $500 or less but are out of financial aid. These balances are prohibiting students from enrolling in the next semester or from receiving their official transcripts/degree to transfer to 4-year college. Students will fill out application and submit to the foundation. Once students are selected for financial/scholarship, a plan to the next semester will be submitted and additional funding will be based on their future success.
· Standing in the Gap – financial/scholarship component to assist students that are standing in the gap between meeting their living expenses and their financial aid award. These students may need assistance with housing needs, food, and toiletries. These students may submit application and note the exact needs that will help them. These needs will be met by getting items from the campus food/toiletry closet or small financial gift card to Wal-Mart. · Wrap Around Services – students will be referred by the RSC Advocates or RSC employee to this program. Students must be eligible for Sooner Care or have health insurance to cover the cost of these services. These services may include but are not limited to: mental health counseling, mentoring, substance abuse assessments, peer recovery support, diagnostic evaluations, development testing, and self-esteem/confidence building. All services will be offered by Springing Families Forward and Spring Eternal. Financial Justification The financial piece of this partnership will be fundraisers that will be a collaborative effort between the Springing Families Forward and the Degree Completion/Diversity office at Rose State College. These fundraisers will occur on an ongoing basis with a major push each quarter. Outreach to other non-profit organizations and application to grants will be added after the program is up and running. This educational partnership will assist in expanding the footprint for Springing Families Forward and Spring Eternal.
